Cadley v Red Rose

The U8’s were due to play Euxton but due to some confusion Red Rose stepped in at the last minute to allow us both to have a game. Botes was up in Newcastle, H Davies is still away and T Burrow was ill so we were down to Eight. We started with Dell, Whitworth and Copper at the back, Holmes, Cooper and Sewell across the middle and B Davies up front leaving Burrow on the touchline. The game started well for Cadley and we were soon starting to get in to our passing game. Davies continued his rich vein of goal scoring with a fine finish. RR were threatening when going forward in particular with the centre forward and left midfielder and it was the former who struck RR’s opener. Burrow came on into his central midfield role and was soon pulling the strings for the home team. Davies hit his second before RR struck from directly from a free kick and then from the left with a well struck shot. Not a bad half but concentration at the critical times cost us dear as RR can find their forwards with good accurate passes so we need to work on staying close to attackers when we are defending.

The second half quickly saw Sewell take the ball to the touchline to fire a cross over that cried out for a tap in but no one had gambled, to be fair I wasn’t expecting it. Davies and Burrow had shots saved and a succession of corners were fired into the box before Burrow got himself onto the score sheet. Dell had to be at his best as the RR forward shot before the dangerous Davies completed another hat trick.

There were no bad performances today but a lot of players were out of position for too much of the game making things more difficult for their teammates. MoM goes to Burrow who came on and set an example to the rest of the team. Although a gifted footballer Burrow never gives less than 100% either in driving forward or tackling back committing himself 100% into everything he does, well done.
