A sunny afternoon saw the belated start to the 2009 / 2010 season for both the teams with last week’s fixtures falling foul of the weather.
Cadley started the brighter and after hitting the bar from a corner, soon took the lead through Rhys Williams who beat the keeper, low to his left, from just outside the area. This lead was soon doubled when Rhys Williams again showed some great individual skill down the right wing before cutting in and scoring from a narrow angle. Brinscall responded well to this set back and created chances of their own but they were unable to convert these into goals and at half-time Cadley led 2-0.
Brinscall started the second half as they finished the first and pulled a goal back when Sam Bowler’s right foot shot into the top left corner beat the Cadley keeper. Brinscall’s tails were now up but Cadley soon restored their two goal lead when Ty Rowland scored from close range despite the brave efforts of the Brinscall keeper. From this point Cadley dominated and soon added to their score, again through Ty Rowland, who put the finishing touch to the move of the game. Cadley had the better of the remainder of the game but were unable to add to their score.
Cadley came away the happier of the two teams but both showed that there is a lot to look forward to in the season ahead. |
