04/03/2010 - Under 10's LEP Game of the Week

Cadley v Springfields – Away – 28th February 2010 – 12.00KO Under 10s League Cup

If it’s not frozen pitches we are all worried about of late, it’s waterlogged pitches too.  This week being no exception.  Luckily for the boys Springy’s home ground was deemed fit, although many in the league were called off.

Being Match of the Week in the LEP the boys were going to take this opportunity to show off their skills.  With the team photo out of the way the boys were raring to go.

The game started well with Cadley attacking with gusto.  A chance by Tierney saw the ball roll along the goal mouth unfortunately denying Cadley a goal.  Springy’s also started well with the ball seeing most of the pitch. ‘Its end to end stuff’ quoted Mr Burrows on the boggy sidelines.

A good save by Baron saw the game full of drama as DiNiro limped off, closely followed by O’Flaherty.  The play was quick and fast as both teams fought for a break on goal.  Then up sprung newly subbed Munnelly who, with his trusty left foot, knocked in a great strong awkward angled shot.  0-1.  The same exciting play continued with Cadley being denied many chances by either keeper or well placed defence.  A freekick by Tierney, Ross Wallace style, was again denied by the busy Springy keeper who was having a brill game.  The whistle blew and what an exciting first half for all boys.

The second half started with a freekick to Springy’s just outside the area.  This was taken well but the wall by the Cadley players took the brunt sending the ball down the other end for more attacks.  A chance by Tierney was initially saved by the keeper but a quick thinking Smith took his cheeky chance and scored. 0-2.  Springy’s weren’t for giving up yet but the ongoing confidence of Cadley saw more pressure than they would have liked.  Final Score 0-2 to Cadley.

A few knocks had been taken but the boys showed their skill and team play once again.  On to the semi’s.

Well done to the Springy Keeper, who had an absolutely blinding game - great skill and confidence!

My MOTM – Linney – well done!

Great picture in the LEP – enjoyed by parents, grandparents and the like.

29/08/2009 - Under 11's - Man Utd v Bolton Reserves

The boys were treated to a trip to Lancashire FA headquarters to watch a premiership reserve game last night..

There were a number of first team players on show obviously competing for places, the match was a great spectacle for the boys.

The result was not important for the boys, but it was the professionalism that was on show for all to see.

Just for the purists though " Manchester United 3 Bolton Wanderers 1".

Watch this space for more team bonding. May be trip out to Theatre ofDreams, see how they polish all those trophies!
