25/08/2008 - Under 7's at Bispham Tournament
The new U7's finished their tournament campaign with a visit to Bispham's tournament. Due to a mix up our first game was a miss match against a very good Euxton U8's team who later withdrew having realised it was supposed to be this year's 7's not last years!
Our first game proper was against Bispham Blue and it didn't take the boys long to find the net with Charlie grabbing 2 and Rob and Harrison B chipping in with 1 each. Danny and Harry both played well at the back with Harrison commanding his area well behind them, final score 4-0.
Layton Juniors were the next opposition again Charlie scoring 2, Rob matching him and Harrison B adding a further goal to make it 5-0. With Euxton dropping out the reverse fixtures meant we played Layton for a second time with Ben, Robert and Harrison B scorring for a 4-0 win.
Last game saw the boys defeat Bispham Blue 6-0 with a fair amount of controversy over the goal scorers. In the end Daniel S got off the mark with his first from open play, Harrison D came out of goals to fire a quick double and Robert scored a hat trick.
A good display from the lads who are continuing to improve with every match.

16/08/2008 - Under 7's Runners Up at Tarleton Tournament
The U7's continued their build up to the season with a visit to Tarleton for their annual tournament. Nine teams entered with everyone playing each other and the top four progressing to the semis.
The first match was againstTarleton's blue team and Ben found the net early on to seal a 1-0 win. Pen St Teresa followed and Robert struck a hat trick and Ben added another to win 4-0. Robert and Charlie scored against Southport Blue for a 2-0 win then we had two 0-0's against Tarleton Red and Red Rose. We then won 2-0 against Bamber Br with Robert hitting both goals followed by a 0-0 against Southport Black. The final group match saw us concede our first goal as we lost 1-0 to Polaris.
The semi was a balanced match against Southport Black which ended 1-1 again Robert on the score sheet so on to penalties. Robert, Ben, Daniel S and Daniel H all scored but Harrison was the hero with 2 excellent saves to take us into the final against Polaris.
Although we lost 2-0 in the final another day of improvement for the youngsters with Harry and Daniel H starting work together and Ben, Robert and Daniel S working hard in midfield. Charlie is showing some good skill up front and Harrison is getting better in goals game by game.
I'm sure the lads will sleep well tonight after all the effort and hard work today well done everyone.

10/08/2008 - U7's at Holy Cross Tournament
Cadley U7's continued their build up to the season with a visit to Holy Cross in Chorley.
First match was Red Rose and we went down to a 1-0 defeat with Daniel S playing well in midfield.
Next up was Lancon and it didn't take Ben long to score before we let in an equaliser to finish 1-1.
Mill Hill were next and we defended really well with Daniel H and Harry keeping it tight at the back before we let in an unlucky goal 0-1.
Aspull were next and Robert capped a fine performance with the winner 1-0.
Our last opponents were Gillibrand who beat us 4-0 with Harrison playing excellent in goals.
Well done boys a good display and continued improvement throughout the team.

21/07/2008 - Under 7s at Walton Wanderers Tournament
Sunday 20th August saw Cadley U7's begin their life as a team with a visit to the Walton Wanderers Tournament. The team was Harrison D in goal, Daniel S, Harry, Liam and Shane in defence with Harrison B, Robert, Ben and Charlie in midfield/attack. First up was a much improved Red Rose and after soaking up the pressure Robert fired into the net from distance, a good start to the day.
Next up were Springfields who caught the boys daydreaming and raced into a 2-0 lead. The boys fought hard to force a draw with Charlie and Robert hitting the net. Harrison got himself onto the scoresheet to force a draw with Tarleton Blue. Next up was BAC and we fell behind to a break away goal as we pressed at the other end 0-1. A good response saw the lads win 3-1 against Layton with Robert scoring twice.
During the lunch break Harrison B had to go to a Christening, Ben arrived from his tennis tournament and with Charlie fitting a party in we started against Hindley with 7 players. Ben quickly fired home and Robert added a second to win 2-1. Game 7 and with the wind getting stronger the lads were starting to feel the pace 0-0 against Leyland. Game 8 was another 0-0 against Euxton again the wind not helping.
Game 9 was against Bamber Bridge who we pressed from the start but fell behind on the break before Ben slammed home a deserved equaliser 1-1. Last game and with blisters and tired legs the lads raised their game to defeat Tarleton Red 1-0 Charlie firing home in style.
All the teams received medals and all the boys left with smiling faces a good end to a good tournament. |
